“Treasure Hunt” – The Parent-Child Pottery Design Competition

Background
The pandemic has brought a “new normal” to parenting in Hong Kong since its inception in 2020.  With class suspension in place, conflicts among parents and their children emerged. We do believe more of the importance of art and education in this difficult time. Pottery is the perfect medium for parents and children to create arts, whilst alleviating stress in the process of communication, coordination and experiencing the flexible nature of the clay. Kindergarten students can enjoy the fun of pottery making under the guidance and supervision of parents.

Objectives
In the search of local talents and future artists, families are welcomed to join the competition by creating pottery pieces guided by the theme “My Treasure”.  This competition also aims to promote parent-child communication and cooperation through the fun of pottery-making. Meanwhile, to gather strength and inherit Chinese traditional culture, committed to promoting the development of children’s art education in Hong Kong.

Theme of the competition: “My Treasure”
There are many precious treasures hidden in the heart of the child. It could be a doll, a water cup, a sleeping blanket, etc… Guided by the theme “My Treasure”, participants of this competition will be given a chance to explore their own definition of “treasure” through pottery art creation.  The time that parents and children get together to create their pottery pieces, and the pottery art they create together will become their unique treasure for life.
